6年の時を経て完成！Martin GarrixがJulian Jordanと一緒に作った新曲のタイトルは"Rebirth"！？

つい昨日11月27日(火)、Martin Garrixがインスタグラムのライブ動画でJulian Jordanとコラボした新曲が完成したことを発表しました！

Martin GarrixとJulian Jordanによるコラボは、Martin Garrixが2016年のAmsterdam Dance Event期間中に7曲連続リリ―スした曲のなかのひとつである“Welcome”ぶりのコラボとなりますね。

この新曲はMartin Garrixが中国の武漢で行ったショーで初めて披露し、その後RAI Amsterdamのショーなどでもかけ、Julian Jordanとのコラボ曲だと判明しましたが、まだ曲のタイトルが決まっていないため何か良い案がないかファンに呼び掛けました。

“Winter”や”Melody”, “Reboot”, “Encryption”などなど色んな案が挙がりましたが、なかでも“Glitch”, “Horizon”, “Crystal”, “Reborn”, “Rebirth”というタイトルを気に入った様子。

Martin GarrixとJulian Jordanは2012年にも“BFAM”という曲でコラボしたことがあるので、“BFAM Ver.2”はどうかという提案もありました。

またライブ動画のなかでこの曲は実は約6年前から制作していた曲であることも明かし、昔のデモバージョンを一部公開。

デモバージョンと現在のバージョンは同じコードとメロディではあるものの、ギターの音を入れたり所々調整されており更に奥行きが生まれたのが分かります。

Martin GarrixとJulian Jordanは同じ年齢にDJをスタートし、オランダにある「Herman Brood Academy」という同じプロダクションスクールに通っていたというのは有名な話ですが、在学中に一緒に作ったのがこの新曲の元となるもので、約6年の歳月を経て完成させたことから最終的に「再生・復活」という意味の“Rebirth”というタイトルに決まりそうな感じでしたね。(※タイトルが変更になったので記事後半を参照)

Julian Jordanは数か月前のBillboardのインタビューでMartin Garrixとの関係について「一緒にスタジオにいるときは常に楽しみながら作業しているよ。友人とのんびりビデオを観ているような感じだね。Martinは本当に仲の良い友人のひとりで、名声とか全く気にしなくていいんだ。」と語っていましたが、今回の新曲も何も余計なことは考えず純粋に自分たちが納得のいく音を好きなように作ったといった感じでしょうか。

動画の最後にMartin Garrixが「この2，3週間以内にSTMPD RCRDSからリリースするよ！」と発表してくれたので楽しみです！

そんなJulian Jordanは12月15日(土)にELE TOLYOに出演が決まっています。

Martin Garrix Hub(@themartingarrixhub)曰く、最初は“Rebirth”というタイトルに決めていたそうですが、@garrixcomをはじめとするファンの想いを汲んで、“Glitch”に変更したと伝えています。

この@garrixcomが最初にこの曲のタイトルを“Glitch”と名付けたそうですが、このアカウントを運営している人物がMartin GarrixがADEで行った18+というショーを見た後、そのままスペインに帰るため24時間くらい起き続け、オランダの空港でGoProで撮ったMartinの映像を見ていたときにこのワードを思い付いたそうです。

Somehow got to choose the name of the track these two legends will release this month It all started right after the +18 show at ADE, I was leaving back to Spain in a couple of hours and hadn’t slept for 24 hours. When I was at the airport waiting till the check in was opened, I saw the video of Martin playing it in my GoPro, and I came out with the name. I thought it fitted perfectly, so I talked to a couple of friends that had an account, and, as they also loved the name they reposted my video, calling it the same way. Obviously I wasn’t expecting anything, but damn, after a couple of weeks people started calling it like that, wow! They key moment was the day Martijn made the livestream, and my friend @thegarrixcorner saw he was asking for names, so he started saying it, along with some other people. I was in class, and when I when it finished I couldn’t believe my eyes, he loved the name and had written it down ! A couple of ours later Julian posted a story, and they were saying they “thought” they have called the track “Rebirth”, but I was happy anyway, he got to listen to my idea! It wasn’t until a couple of days ago, when the one and only @themartingarrixhub sent me a DM… it was official, they were going to name it my way !! I can’t be thankful enough to the garrixer community on IG, for the people that helped, and specially for @thegarrixcorner & @themartingarrixhub ! And also @martingarrix & @itsjulianjordan for listening to the fans opinions, and for the great selfie they sent me I don’t think I’ve achieved anything huge, as it wasn’t my own merit to get Martin to see the name, but I wanted to say that, no matter how stupid and crazy the idea sounds (believe me, it sounded crazy when I texted @garrixness while I was at the airport telling him that I committed to name this track “Glitch”), if you hardly believe in it, and work to achieve it, I’m 100% sure you can reach it! 曲のタイトルを募集したライブ動画のなかでMartin Garrixは「コンピュータに関連したワードが欲しい」とも言っていましたが、この「Glitch」には「故障、誤作動、電力の突然の異常」といった意味があり、この曲のサウンドデザインにもフィットしたタイトルと言えます。

それにしてもMartin Garrixは“Byte”や“Yottabyte”, “Virus”, “Proxy”, “Torrent”, “Error 404”, “Keygen”, “Latency”などコンピュータ/IT関連の用語が大好きなのでしょうか。
